The Senate on Monday denied that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, gave a deadline recently for the publication of the details of the National Assembly budget.
The upper chamber, however, pledged that the details of the N115bn allocation for the federal parliament would be included in the 2016 budget details being worked upon by the appropriation committees of the two chambers.
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Sabi Abdullahi, told journalists in Abuja that the current leadership of the red chamber would always carry Nigerians along in its activities.
Abdullahi stated, “I am not aware of any promise made by the President of the Senate on a specific date for the publication of the National Assembly budget details.
“What I know is that the National Assembly Budget Breakdown will be contained in the details of the budget when it is released.”
Saraki had, before the National Assembly went on recess two weeks ago, promised that the details of the budget of N115bn for the federal parliament, contained in this year’s annual budget, would be published within two weeks on its website.
There had been public outcry in the past on the way the leadership of the National Assembly and the bureaucracy had treated the document with utmost secrecy.
