Photo: Sokoto residents rush out to clean streets following cash reward of N1m by state governor
Sokoto state residents have come out in their numbers to clean their streets following the announcement of N1million reward by the state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, to residents of the cleanest streets. Tambuwal yesterday made the announcement as a way to ensure that the state is kept clean. The runner-up street will get N750,000 while the 2nd runner-up will get N500,000.

Reduce number of policemen attached to VIPs - Buhari tells IGP
President Buhari has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase to reduce the number of police officers attached to Very Important Personalities in Nigeria.
According to a statement by the Special Assistant to the Presient on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, President Buhari gave the directive at a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Police Affairs and the Police Service Commission in the Presidential Villa today August 20th.
President Buhari at the meeting also warned that he will not tolerate any irregularities or extortion of money from unemployed Nigerians in the coming recruitment into the police. He said that applicants having to pay bribes before being accepted into the police in the past was totally unacceptable.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 arrested a suspected serial fraudster, Dr. Kunle Adeshola, who issued a forged draft to the tune of N3.29billion, in a phony land deal.
The suspect, who presented himself as Director, Corporate and Management Service, Amazon Inc., had allegedly entered a contract with Atkan Services Nigeria Limited for the purchase of 50 units of flats in different locations within the FCT, Abujaand subsequently presented a Deutsche Bank, "bank draft" no 081758 in the sum of $19.930, 900.00 purportedly drawn by Deutsche Bank in favour of Infinity Trust Savings and Loans Limited. But the draft was returned unpaid after Stanbic IBTC Plc, discovered it was forged and reported the fraud to the Central Bank of Nigeria.
